Namaste.
Hello, I’m Suyeon Kim, also known as Nina.
I began dancing at the age of 11. From a young age, I was active and loved moving my body, but frequent pain and injuries forced me to give up pursuing dance as a major.
Later, I built a career using my dance skills as a musical theater performer, jazz dancer, and aerial performer and instructor. In 2020, I decided to learn aerial hammock but was encouraged by those around me to try yoga first, and that’s how my yoga journey began.
As a performer, movement was never just a means to an end for me—it was the goal itself. I constantly pushed myself, overworked my body, and lived with chronic pain and injuries, believing that “this is just how work is.” However, yoga completely transformed my life. For the first time, I started listening to what my body was trying to tell me. The mental clarity and peace I gained from yoga were so profound that they reshaped my entire perspective on movement and life.
As a yoga instructor, one of my strengths is my experience working with a wide range of age groups, from elementary school children to seniors in their 70s. I’ve led classes for 50-60 people in corporate settings, conducted group lessons for 15-20 participants, and taught small group and one-on-one sessions.
Having dealt with injuries and pain for so long, I’m able to empathize with students who experience discomfort during practice and help them identify the root causes. Many students, including those who’ve had surgery or suffer from chronic pain, have told me that regular practice has improved their condition. Hearing this brings me a deep sense of fulfillment and responsibility, which is why I’m also studying anatomy to further enhance my teaching.
I’ve decided to become a yoga instructor to give back what I’ve learned—the benefits of rehabilitation, mental peace, and healing energy. I aspire to be a teacher who provides positive energy and warmth to everyone I meet.
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
